Marrakesh Airport Transportation

Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK) offers diverse ground transport options connecting passengers efficiently to the city center (6-8 km away, 15-30 min) and beyond, with reliable buses, taxis, and private services
Buses and Shuttles
ALSA Line 19 is the main airport shuttle, departing from Terminal 2 arrivals (past taxi area) every 20 minutes from 6 AM to 11:30 PM. It costs 30 MAD one-way (50 MAD round-trip), taking 25-40 minutes to key spots like Jemaa el-Fnaa, Gueliz, train station, and bus station via direct route with luggage space.
Line 11 (local city bus, 4-6 MAD) stops after a 10-minute walk from the airport exit along the main road—budget-friendly but slower (45+ min) with multiple stops and less luggage room, ideal for light travelers.
Line 12 serves nights when Line 19 ends. Buy tickets onboard; exact change recommended.
Line 19 is best for first-timers with luggage—tell the driver your stop (e.g., "Jemaa el-Fna") as announcements are in Arabic/French.
Taxis and VTC
Official beige petit taxis queue outside both Terminal 1 and 2 arrivals halls (fixed meters, no haggling needed). Fixed fares to city center/Jemaa el-Fnaa run 70-100 MAD daytime (add 50% after 8 PM), taking 15-25 minutes depending on traffic. Licensed drivers wear badges; refuse overcharges.
VTC apps like Careem or inDrive offer rides from the same rank (100-150 MAD), while Uber operates informally via partnerships. Private transfers (pre-booked via hotels/apps) cost 150-300 MAD for up to 4 people.
Night arrivals? Pre-book a transfer or use VTC for safety—insist on the meter with taxis and note the license plate.
Fares
The fare to transfer to Marrakech city centre (to old town or Gueliz) is MAD 70.
Some drivers may be reticent to travel at the rate of MAD 70 so the cost may vary between MAD 150-800 according to your negotiation skills.
You’ll also get a different fare according if you choose to ride either a grand taxi (for 6 passengers) or a petite taxi (for 3 passengers).
Fares to other popular destinations:
- Menara: MAD 94.48 (18 minutes)
- Annakhil: MAD 101.59 (19 minutes)
*Fares may change without prior notice.

Metro/Train/Tram (Not Applicable)
No metro, train, or tram directly serves the airport. The nearest train station (Marrakech ONCF, 10 min by taxi) connects to Casablanca (2.5h), but requires a taxi/shuttle first. No light rail exists nearby.[
For rail travel, taxi to ONCF station (50 MAD) then hop on high-speed Al Boraq connections if heading north.
How to Reach the Airport
From city center: Line 19 from Jemaa el-Fnaa/Bab Doukkala (30 MAD, every 20 min), taxis (70-90 MAD from Gueliz), or pre-booked shuttles. Allow 1-1.5 hours extra during rush hour (7-9 AM, 5-8 PM). Walking from nearby areas possible but not recommended with luggage (6km+).
Depart 3+ hours before flights—traffic peaks and security lines grow fast; track buses via ALSA.ma app.
